Amylase and esterase in rat intestinal lymph.

چکیده
Alkaline phosphatase, which occurs in very high concentration in the mtestinal mucosa (1) and is excreted (2) in the intestine in large quantities during digestion, has been found also in increased concentration in the plasma (3) and especially in the intestinal lymph (4) of the rat after it has been fed a meal containing fat. This increase in the alkaline phosphatase activity of intestinal lymph is greatly diminished or abolished if the bile is excluded from the intestine (5). To determine whether other enzymes involved in the digestion of food are transported in increased amount in the intestinal lymph after feeding, we have made a study of the amylase and lipase activity of this lymph before and after feeding. The fluctuations found in the concentration of these enzymes at various times do not appear to be correlated with the time of feeding. A definite increase in the aliesterase which hydrolyzes tributyrin was found after the feeding of a meal containing fat.

Cholesterol absorption in rat intestine: role of cholesterol esterase and acyl coenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase.
Cholesterol esterase of pancreatic juice origin and acyl coenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase, both associated with the intestinal mucosa, are implicated in the extensive esterification of exogenous cholesterol during absorption. To assess the role of each enzyme, [4-14C]cholesterol absorption into mesenteric lymph of rats with normal mucosal levels of both esterification enzymes was compared...
متن کاملIntestinal cholesterol esterase: intracellular enzyme
The location of cholesterol esterase in rabbit intestine was re-evaluated. In three different experiments that were designed to eliminate contaminating mucus and pancreatic enzymes from the lumen of the small intestine, it was observed that the activities of cholesterol esterase and amylase in intestinal cytosol and whole homogenate decreased in parallel fashion. After the mucus was carefully w...
متن کاملIntestinal α-glucosidase and some pancreatic enzymes inhibitory effect of hydroalcholic extract of Moringa stenopetala leaves
BACKGROUND Moringa stenopetala has been used in traditional health systems to treat diabetes mellitus. One of the successful methods to prevent of the onset of diabetes is to control postprandial hyperglycemia by the inhibition of α-glucosidase and pancreatic α-amylase activities, resulting in the aggressive delay of the carbohydrate digestion of absorbable monosaccharides. The aim of the prese...
متن کاملDendritic cell heterogeneity in vivo: two functionally different dendritic cell populations in rat intestinal lymph can be distinguished by CD4 expression.
DC derived from rat pseudo-afferent lymph (L-DC) vary in CD4, CD11b/c, Thy1, and OX41 expression. CD4 and OX41 are expressed by the same subpopulation (50-60%) of L-DC. CD4+/OX41+ L-DC express short fine processes and low nonspecific esterase, whereas CD4- DC/OX41- express long pseudopodia, high nonspecific esterase, and many cytoplasmic inclusions. These differences are stable in culture. Both...
متن کاملThe effects of non-starch polysaccharides content of wheat and xylanase supplementation on the intestinal amylase, aminopeptidase and lipase activities, ileal viscosity and fat digestibility in layer diet
The effects of non-starch polysaccharide (NSP) content of wheat and xylanase supplementation (XS) of the diet, on intestinal enzyme activity (amylase, aminopeptidase and lipase), fat digestibility and ileal viscosity of laying hens has been studied. Two hundred forty Hy-Line W-36 layer from 20 to 25 week of age were studied under a factorial experiment (4×2) in completely randomized design with...
